Teens Can Write Too January Blog Chain

So Here’s the Deal. Today is my day to post about books I threw across the room for the Teens Can Write Too January Blog Chain. However. This morning I woke up, and promptly fell down, then spent the rest of the day in bed due to high blood pressure. Meaning this post may or may not make any sence what so ever. Just so ya know.

HELLO. WELCOME TO MY BLOG PEOPLE THAT DON’T NORMALLY READ MY BLOG AND ARE HERE JUST FOR THE BLOG CHAIN. WELCOME BACK IF YOU JUST LIKE ME AND ALWAYS READ MY BLOG. I AM NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY. BUT OH WELL. THE SHOW MUST GO ON. AND IN THIS CASE THE SHOW IS THE JANUARY TEENS CAN WRITE TOO BLOG CHAIN.
The Prompt Was: What are examples of books you’ve thrown across the room with force? Why did you throw them?
Oh Goodness. I have things to say about this.
As a person and a big time reader, I really like books. But I happen to really like books with quality. Books that don’t bore me, don’t drown on, and aren’t about stupid things. unfortunately, there a books like that out there. Here are some of them:
1) The Diamonds by Ted Micheal This was a book about girls. It was a book about girls, written by a man, that did not properly show how girls work. At all. I mean. I hate the Clique books. *Everyone* hates the Clique books. Because they are books about girls that are horribly mean and just generally stupid. These type of girls also starred The Diamonds, although it was disguised like the main character was above them by the end, realizing her true identity or whatever. But I was like: Girls don’t even act like that. I mean yeah, girls can be mean. But they can’t be that mean *and* be smart. It was just ridiculous.
2) Jenna and Jonah’s Fauxmance by Brendan Halpin and Emily Franklin This book was just written very poorly. By people who are not, famous pretending to know what it’s like to be famous, and then smashing a bunch of existing books together. There were bits of David Levithan and Rachel Cohn mixed with Susan Elizabeth Phillips mixed with God knows who else. AND THEN halfway through the book, it seemed like they gave up on the existing plot and started an ENTIRLY NEW BOOK IN THE MIDDLE. I was angered by this book, the editors of this book, and the publishers of this book. It was like getting bad news on a MOnday.
3) One Night That Everything Changes by Lauren Barnholdt There is no lie when saying that Lauren Barnholdt, while probably being a lot of things, isn’t very good at writing books. I used to love her books, don’t get me wrong. But I also used to love Twilight and watching movies and Hollister. This book in particular by her was bad. It was kind of like she was wondering why she was suddenly loosing fans after writing some crap, and wrote this book as if to say “Hey look! I’m cool! I Write Good things like this! Remember this! This is the reason you liked my first books right?!”. essentially, I felt like she took her best book, toned it down, added ONE new character, and re-release it. It was a mess. A messy, messy mess.
It occurs to me now, only after writing all of those down. That you have probably not read any of these books. I am sorry. But there is good reason. They were not very good.
Now I am going to go and pretend like I want to have energy to go to school tomorrow.

Great post! I’ve read some books similar to the ones you’ve described and detested them just as much. I’ve just learned to give up on the style/genre/format. Thanks for participating in the chain!
Don’t get me wrong, I love YA. I’ve just learned that I like ones that aren’t filled with fluff. I’m more or a John Green/Marcus Zuzak kinda girl myself.
Nice Job! Sorry that you’re having a bad day already, but you manage to write an awesome post! I really agree on the Clique book,s a friend tried to get me into those, but I barely got a 1/4 way through it. So ya, great job and I will definetly be back over in your corner of the blogosphere soon! 😀
Aw, thank you for wishing me well. I’m feeling much better now. But yeah, The Clique Books give me hives. As do Cliques some-what un-ironically.
I’m a fan of Markus Zusak as well, he’s awesome. He taught me that you don’t have to write like everyone else in order to write well 🙂
Well done on powering through feeling ill to write the post. This is why whenever I have a deadline for a post, I write it in advance and schedule it, so that emergencies do not stop it from existing.

And thank you. I wasn't sick as much as delusional, but *reading through my post again* it doesn't seem that too many off my sentences didn't make any sense.
I definitely agree with you. Not that I’ve read any of them but acording to you they sound really, really bad. It makes me wonder how you get a publishing contract.
I’m going to have to remember this so I don’t make an idiotic book when I am a famous writer and teens hate it.
I guess what I’m trying to say is I really liked your post. It was a lot better than mine. 🙂
Aw, no! I liked your post! But yes, I guess people publish what people want to read–and some people want to read those types of things. Personally, they drive me mad, but ya know. There’s always someone.
I take notes when there’s something about a book that I hate so I make sure I don’t do it too, and I take notes about the things that I like as well.
Interesting. I’ve never heard of any of them. Of course, bad books get published every day, but there are worse books that don’t get published…
Oh deffinitly. I mean, I can’t stand these books, but they are rather popular with, some good reveiws out there. So, as long as *smeone’s* enjoying themselves, I guess it makes up for it. : ))
I must say I liked this post before I finished reading it. It was very humorous, and succeeded in cheering me up considerably. I myself have not been having a very good day–I do hope you are better, though.
I’m surprised those things got themselves a publisher. What the heck were these people thinking? I love our generation and all, but there are too many ‘writers’ out there that think they’re…well, writers. It’s the most frustrating thing, especially when you’re a book lover. I thoroughly convinced some of them do it for the ‘glamour’ (which is non-existent), for the money, or for bragging rights. Then, there’s actual writers. I hope I succeed more at being the latter.

I’m glad I could make your day better! I want to be an actual writer too. I’ve always been more of a content/quality girl rather than an outcome girl, myself. I don’t really care how people deal with my writing as long as I think it was worth writing.

I have never read any of these but I guess I’m glad I haven’t. 😀 A guy writing a book about girls? Ha! That must’ve been a really awful read. I’d throw it out the window in minutes. 😀

Thank you! The world of homework has done it’s best to suck me in as well, but time management has about saved my life. And yes. Don’t read those books.
That’s why I don’t often write from a female perspective. I feel all stupid and illegitimate. I hope you’re feeling better now. 🙂
I am feeling much better. I wrote I had high blood pressure, I just noticed, when I actually had very *low* blood pressure. But still. I have improved. Yeah, gender bender authoring works when the books isn’t built on the relation ships of gender that author isn’t. Then it sort of crumbles down.
One of my friends has troubles like that.
I remember talking about that exact issue in writing during the last chain.
Yeah, it seems to be a common issue. One of those things in which it’s really easy to do wrong.
